This program keeps pharmaceuticals out of the water supply by using drop-off boxes. The drugs are out of reach of children, and inappropriate use by criminals is avoided. The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency)has asked communities to stop flushing unwanted medications down the drain.

Kankakee County in cooperation with the local police agencies and the Illinois EPA, began this medication disposal Program in 2009. Please share this information with friends, neighbors and family members to protect our fishing, recreational, and drinking water resources.
